Introducing…Closs & Hamblin

New name. New look.
Same family values, high quality products
& exceptional customer service.

If you are a regular customer to one of our nine stores in the South East or our website, you’ll have noticed we are undergoing a transformation.

After 84 years of being in the forefront of the fabric retail industry C & H remains a family business, now in its fourth generation. To honour our heritage and family values we have expanded the familiar acronym C & H to Closs & Hamblin, paying tribute to our original founders Harold Closs & Cyril Hamblin, who established C & H in 1933.

Our stores are in the process of being renovated and rebranded with our new logo and colours, and our new website has been in operation for a year.

Our History

C & H Fabrics Ltd. was founded in 1933 by Mr. Cyril Hamblin (pictured, left) and Mr. Harold Closs. The original shops specialized in dress-making fabrics and paper patterns.

Fabrics were sourced from the textile mills of Northern England and The Midlands, specialist cloths from Italy and further afield.

The company immediately sought to distinguish itself from its competitors by offering a wide range of good value, quality products, allied to experienced and knowledgeable staff offering the highest levels of customer service. Our principles remain the same after 84 years: Quality, Value, & Service.

C & H  has undergone many changes in its 84 years – here’s a fantastic image from our archives of our Tunbridge Wells store in the 1960’s.

New Company Look

Gone is the  familiar green and gold C & H logo, replaced by the new Closs & Hamblin logo and our new company monogram.
